B-PEP, THE BLACK POLITICAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
NOW HAS A NEW TOOL WITH WHICH TO SERVE
THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY OF METROPOLITAN PITTSBURGH

A NEW FULL WEBSITE www.b-pep.net

For the past two years Mr. Ashley G. Woodson, CEO of Brotha Ash Productions and member of the B-PEP Planning Council, has graciously provided B-PEP with a web page. This web page has served B-PEP well and the B-PEP Planning Council is indebted to Mr. Woodson for his kind and generous contribution to B-PEP.

With the expanded and extensive work of the Black Political Empowerment Project a full web site was needed and thanks to the work of WNWA Inc. and its CEO, and new B-PEP Council member, Mr. Steve Johnson that website has now become a reality!

Thanks also to the contribution of B-PEP Vice Chairperson, Celeste Taylor who assisted in the overall design and content of the site.

THE NEW WEBSITE will feature the ongoing work of B-PEP, including its Reclaim The Vote Initiative work that has received funding from the Three Rivers Community Foundation and the Poise Foundation. THE NEW WEBSITE will provide updates on the Coalition Against Violence, a free standing initiative which came out of the February 7, 2007 News Conference called by B-PEP and One HOOD to address the fact that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania had become number one in the nation with 'Black on Black' violence. THE NEW WEBSITE will feature the Coalition's document which includes 'A Community Manifesto' and 'The Role of the Family', along with the full document which will be unveiled by late March 2008 to identify a wide variety of strategies designed to impact the violence in our communities. THE NEW WEBSITE will keep readers informed of the work of another initiative of B-PEP, the Racial Equity Monitoring Project (REMP), funded by the Heinz Endowments, which came out of the October 2, 2007 Racial Equity and Empowerment Summit, hosted by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, County Executive Dan Onorato and the Racial Equity and Empowerment Summit Coalition.

THE NEW B-PEP WEBSITE will keep readers informed of upcoming B-PEP events, such as the Monday, March 3rd B-PEP Forum at a the Homewood YMCA which features a conversation with newly elected Councilman Rev. Ricky Burgess and an update on the work of the various B-PEP initiatives. Another upcoming event featured will be "B-PEP Jazz III" scheduled for Easter Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Oakland Holiday Inn Select from 5:30 pm to 11:30 pm, B-PEP's annual fundraiser.

B-PEP Chairman and Founder Tim Stevens stated, "It is the hope of the entire B-PEP Planning Council that this new service will make the work of the Black Political Empowerment Project, initiated on May 21, 1986, more accessible to the public, and thus encouraging more partnerships, participation and support for B-PEP's many initiatives!"
