Big Ben will shine but Peyton Manning &
Sports Illustrated Jinx will be too much to overcome

by BAP Sports Analysis "Smokin Jim Frazier" 1/13/06

The Indianapolis Colts are going to ride the Steelers out of town like 'Smarty Jones' and the game will not be decided by some "LIQUORED UP"; "IDIOT" kicker.

You may have heard of the Sports Illustrated jinx. There is a belief that to be on the cover or featured in this weekly magazine spells certain doom to both sports teams and individual players.

I am not sure if the Sports Illustrated jinx exists or not, but Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu was featured on the cover this season and the Steelers went on a three game losing streak!

Guess who is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week? Jerome "The Bus" Bettis and Smokin' Jim is predicting that the Steelers are going to be the cover jinx's latest victim. Look for the Colts to defeat the Steelers 42 to 28 and look for quarterback Big Ben Roethlisberger to sparkle by passing for over 400 yards in a losing effort.

I had Roethlisberger rated as the top quarterback in the 2004 draft. I said that "Big" Ben Roethlisberger would be the next Super star Quarterback in the National Football league. I said he was the biggest steal for the Pittsburgh Steelers since they selected Rod Woodson with the tenth pick of the 1987 draft. Ben Roethlisberger was the best QUARTERBACK in a very OVERRATED Quarterback draft!

Eli Manning will CONTINUE to have his UP's and DOWN's. His lack of courage was very apparent against the Carolina Panthers this past weekend and the "Yellow Disk" in his back is probably still spinning like his favorite CD. Phillip Rivers has a BELOW AVERAGE arm, which will lead to a BELOW AVERAGE CAREER! J. P. LOSMAN couldn't spell CAT if you spotted his the "C" and the "T" and Matt Schaub is a 6'6 inch joke.

In only three years, Ben Roethlisberger rewrote practically every school, game, season and career passing records in Miami University of Ohio history. He completed 66% of his passes for 11,000 yards and 84 touchdowns! He passed for over 3,000 yards three straight seasons!

He was also one of the BEST PUNTERS in the country! He average 41 yards per punt and had 17 attempts downed inside the 20-yard line!

In 2003 was named conference's Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year! He guided the team to its first BOWL VICTORY IN NEARLY 30 YEARS! He passed for OVER 4,500 yards and 37 touchdowns! He completed 70% of his passes!

In the MAC Championship game he connected on 26 of 35 throws for 440 yards and 4 Touchdowns! He led the team to its first postseason victory in nearly 30 years. He passed for nearly 400 yards and 4 touchdowns in a victory against Louisville in the GMAC Bowl.

"Big" Ben passed for 525 yards against Northern Illinois! Remember, this is the SAME Northern Illinois team who beat Alabama at BAMA and they also beat a GREAT Maryland team at Maryland. This is the same Maryland team who BLEWOUT Top-ten RANKED West Virginia twice in 2003!

He attended Findlay (Oh.) High School. He set state records by throwing for 4,100 yards and 54 touchdowns as a HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR! Great athletic. He averaged 27 points per game as a Senior point guard!

Big Ben is an intense player! He wears his game face at all times. He walks around and plays with a CHIP on his SHOULDERS. He has the ability to RAISE the EXPECTATION of the players about him.

Ben is every coach's dream. A very FOCUS player. An athlete who can THROW, RUN, JUMP and is very competitive, very athletic, very coachable and he is a player who REFUSES TO LOSE!

Ben is all "HEART"! Everybody likes to win, But Ben Roethlisberger hates to lose. Listen, I know football is not LIFE and DEATH, but I don't want a quarterback playing for me who knows the difference! Ben Roethlisberger plays every play like it is his last!

He was named the NFL Rookie of the Year. He broke Dan Marino's NFL records for a rookie quarterback. He became the first quarterback in NFL HISTORY to compile a 13-0 record during the regular season!

Ben Roethlisberger TOYED with NFL Defenses as if they had "MATTEL" on the back of their Jersey's!

Ben Roethlisberger is stubborn. He is HEAD STRONG. He is arrogant. BIG BEN rides his motorcycle without a HELMET!

C'MON Ben, even a "KAMIKAZE PILOT" wears a HELMET!

The Pittsburgh Steelers got LUCKY when they drafted Roethlisberger. This guy is a WINNER and he will WIN "One for the Thumb" for the City of Pittsburgh, but this season belongs to Tony Dungy, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.
