A twenty-three-year old native from Pittsburgh who was motivated to bring about change in the world began with growing up in the projects of Saint Clair Village, known as the ghetto. Saint Clair Village is a place where drugs, alcohol, violence, and surviving to live another day is a way of life. The main focus behind Boona’s music is reality, not just his reality but also the reality of others. His main passions for making music are to make a change, inspire someone to reach for his or her dream, and to send out a message that one can make it no matter what his or her background. His music sends a positive message into a world that is full of chaos and negativity.

Boona’s method to capturing his audience in his music is through his creativity, not only through some of his production but also with his lyrics. Boona began exploring music in his childhood years starting in the seventh grade at Knoxville Middle School. He began with playing the tuba, xylophone, and the conga drum. He then continued to pursue music in high school by joining the marching band and also by learning to play the steel drums and the drum set. It was at this time that Boona was on a positive path with his music but not on a successful path when it came to communicating with his peers. During his adolescent years, he was treated as an outsider by those in his neighborhood because of his decision to do well in school. While attempting to interact with the kids in his neighborhood, it was, during that time, that Boona began to realize the reason why he was unsuccessful with his encounter. The kids in his community allowed their behaviors to be influenced by the music they were listening to. As a result of all that has transpired in his experiences, Boona began to try to use his music to reach out not only to those around him but out to the world. And because of those results Boona decided to become proactive by conveying the truth through his music by being productive rather than counter productive. On this musical journey, Boona’s vision is to help all those who experience his music to realize the effect that music has on the mind. Through the trials and tribulations that Boona has experienced in life, he came to realize what his name means. Boona by his definition means spiritual leader, warrior, and a man of faith.
