The
Hill District is alive and undergoing exciting changes with an
eye to its future while maintaining its unique cultural and historic
legacy. New housing and new redevelopment is springing
up all over as the community returns to the vibrance of the Hill’s
heyday. This year’s theme recapture’s a hint
of that magic as we stroll down memory lane and sneak a peek of
things to come!
The Centre Avenue Y has been a beacon of hope to the
Hill District community with a rich history of fostering leadership
and offering guidance to those in need. Today, the Centre
Avenue Y provides not only resident rooms, but also offers after-school
programs, youth sports & employment and an array of services
that serves the community.
The evening features a hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, dinner
and also live music provided by Flo Wilson and the Old
School Band.
Serving as Honorary Hill of Hope Co-Chairs are Jane and
Wendell Freeland. The event will also recognize the outstanding
contributions of The Martin Luther King, Jr. Reading Center to
the Hill District community.
